Pathways to Practice
The pathway to practice as a registered/licensed dental hygienist in Canada will vary depending on an individual's education profile and the province in which they choose to register.
Generally, the pathway includes completion of required academic and clinical studies at the post-secondary level, successful completion of certification examination(s), language proficiency and finally, registration as a licensed dental hygienist with the regulatory body in the province in which you plan to practice. Select the option in the menu on the left that describes your current status to link to the path that meets your needs.
These pathways do not apply to those planning to work in the province of Quebec; please contact l’Ordre des Hygiénistes Dentaire du Quebec for information on registration.
